INTRO TO ENGLISH STUDIES (SUMMER 2022)

SURVIVING THE CITY: LEADING BACK TO YOU

August 2022

For Intro to English Studies, I decided to write a short story for my final project that is inspired by Tasha Spillett's graphic novel, Surviving the City. My short story follows the main character, Miikwan, a few days after she and Dez are reunited. Miikwan feels relieved now that her best friend is back, but her old way of life is suddenly flipped on its head when she starts to see the spirits that lurk around her town. As the story progresses, Miikwan comes to terms with her newfound powers and learns to navigate them, all while grieving the loss of her mother.

CREATIVE WRITING (SPRING 2020)

A REMINDER (POEM)

May 2020

For a creative writing assignment, my professor asked the class to write a poem that's inspired by one of our favorite shows or artists. TOUR DE COLUMBUS (CREATIVE NONFICTION)

May 2020

I wrote this piece after my creative writing professor assigned my class to write a creative nonfiction story. In this piece, I reflect on and describe a Twenty One Pilots concert I attended. I include vivid sensory details that are meant to make readers feel as if they are there with me. Links are added as well in order to add to that effect.

A NEW BEGINNING (FICTION SHORT STORY)

May 2020

For the last creative writing assignment of the semester, my professor gave us the task of writing a short story. "A New Beginning" is a contemporary fantasy piece. Readers are pulled into the world of a girl named Page as she is struggling to cope with the loss of a close friend. When her sister, Althea, rediscovers her box of tarot cards, a chain of events occur that forever alter Page's outlook on life.
